Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of WhereCast at wherecast.com and in official WhereCast mobile apps (the "service"). By using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use it. WhereCast is operated by Burak Ozdemir, a self-employed trader (autónomo) established in Spain, at Calle Puerto 14, 5th floor, 29016 Málaga, Spain.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services, that age applies to you instead.

Playing fairly

Play in good faith. Do not use bots, scripts or automated guessing. Do not attempt to read the answer before solving it, whether by inspecting network traffic, guessing image filenames, or any other route around the game. Do not create multiple accounts to game the leaderboard, and do not post today's answer publicly before the daily reset.

Do not scrape the site, resell access to it, or place unreasonable load on it. Scores are computed on our servers; results produced by tampering with the client will be discarded.

Your account

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to it secure. We may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used to cheat, or that is used to harass others. You can delete your account at any time from your website profile or the account-deletion control in a supported mobile app. Signing out or uninstalling the app does not delete your account. Retention and your data rights are described in our Privacy Policy.

Progress, sync and leaderboards

Online guesses are saved on our servers, even for guests. Creating a new account from the same guest session saves its available history and unfinished games to that account. Existing-account sign-in does not automatically merge guest games from a shared device. Where supported, you can explicitly request transfer of that installation's server-recorded guest history; existing account progress wins same-puzzle conflicts. Transferred guest games count toward personal progress but never retroactively qualify for the leaderboard. Removing guest cookies or app data can make guest history inaccessible. Account history is available when you sign in to the same account.

Personal statistics include saved guest games. Only live games started while signed in are eligible for public ranking. A game started as a guest stays unranked after registration; replays and older games whose origin cannot be verified are also unranked. Browser counters, offline claims and development games cannot be submitted as ranked results. We may correct invalid results and change ranking rules to keep competition fair. A rank or streak has no monetary value and is not a prize entitlement.

Mobile apps and purchases

Features and sign-in methods can differ between the website and app versions. An internet connection is required to submit and sync games. Your app store's terms apply to downloading the app and to any purchase made through that store. Price, included features, duration and any renewal terms must be shown before purchase. Do not assume a website purchase includes every future mobile feature.

Where offered, website premium checkout is handled by Polar under the terms shown at checkout. Refunds and cancellations are handled through the seller or app store used for the purchase, subject to applicable consumer law. Deleting a WhereCast account does not itself request a refund or cancel a separately managed app-store subscription. Contact support if you need help identifying the seller.

Availability

The daily game is free. Optional paid features, where offered, are described before purchase. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that a puzzle will be published every day, that scores or streaks will never be lost, or that every defect can be corrected immediately. Features may change; changes to paid access remain subject to the purchase terms and mandatory consumer rights. Daily puzzles depend on third-party services that can fail.

No warranty, and limits on liability

The service and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. City, geographic and weather information is supplied by third parties and may be inaccurate or out of date. It is offered for a game and must not be relied on for navigation, travel, safety or any other decision that matters.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

What belongs to whom

WhereCast branding, software and original design are protected to the extent permitted by law. Generated posters and third-party content remain subject to any applicable rights and licences. You may share your own results, screenshots and the share text the game gives you. You may not copy the posters or the site's content for another product, or present the game as your own.

Third-party data keeps its own licence, set out below.

Data sources

City names, coordinates and administrative data come from Wikipedia (text under CC BY-SA 4.0) and Wikidata (structured data under CC0). Weather data is provided by Open-Meteo, used under CC BY 4.0.

This data has been modified: values are selected, rounded, converted between units and summarised for display, and city names are shown in the language of the page you are on. Neither source endorses WhereCast.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date below always shows when they last changed, and material changes will be brought to your attention through the service where appropriate. Changes do not remove existing mandatory consumer rights.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain, and the courts of Spain have jurisdiction. If you use the site as a consumer in another country, you keep the protections of the mandatory law where you live.
