Country Data

Browse the places included in each WhereCast game. The lists and totals come from the same eligible places used by the game's search. Names follow the language of each game, with an alternate name alongside where available.

World and regional coverage

The World Capitals roster covers the 193 UN member states, plus Vatican City, Palestine, Kosovo and Taiwan. The UN's two non-member observer states are the Holy See and the State of Palestine. The game's inclusion of a place does not imply a position on its political status.

Europe includes Vatican City and Kosovo. Georgia and Palestine are included in Asia, along with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus and Türkiye; Russia is included in Europe. These geographic groupings follow the UN statistical regions, with Kosovo and Taiwan included in the game's roster. The Americas include Central America and the Caribbean.

• Europe: 45 capitals
• Asia: 49 capitals
• Africa: 54 capitals
• Americas: 35 capitals
• Oceania: 14 capitals

The 14 capitals in Oceania are included in World Capitals. Oceania does not have a separate daily game.

The country geography clue describes the country, not the city. For example, Poland has a coast even though Warsaw is inland. “Island country” includes countries that share an island; “landlocked” means no ocean coastline, so a Caspian Sea shore does not count as a coast for this clue.

Game lists
